John’s childhood was very normal. He was raised to be catholic and went to catholic school. He grew up in a middle class neighborhood. He had brothers and sisters.
High School?
Though he was not popular, he was well-liked by teachers and co-workers. John was very intelligent, his IQ was very high.
Any Kinds of Troubles?
Throughout his teenage years he suffered some turmoil with his father, John Sr. His father was an abusive alcoholic. He would physically and mentally abuse his wife and children. John Wayne Gacy always wanted to have a close relationship with his father but never could as John Sr died.
What Made Him Start His Killing/Raping?
Johns first encounter with raping was on May 22, 1978. His name was Jeffrey Rignall. Jeffrey was asked by John to join him on a ride and to share a joint. He accepted. As they were getting close to the place where Jeffrey wanted to be, John grabbed him and shoved a rag over his face that was doused in chloroform.
When Rignall awoke, he saw a heavy set man naked (John). He remembered seeing many objects pointed at him and John told him that he was going to use these objects to viciously rape and torture him.
As Rignall woke up for the last time, he was fully clothed under a statute. This led up to a 3 year period where John raped, tortured, and murdered more than 30 young men.
How He Killed?
John would lure these men and boys into his house. He lured them by force or deception. All but one were murdered by asphyxiation or strangled to death. His first victim was stabbed.
Where It Took Place?
All of the 33 boys and men were around Chicago, Illinois and most of the murders took place inside his home.
26 of his victims were buried in a crawl space within his house. 3 were buried on his property. The last 4 were dumped into the Des Plaines River.
Why is He Called “Killer Clown”?
John had a small second job where he dressed up as a clown and worked at parties. His name as the clown was “Pogo The Clown”. He had a passion for art and often times drew himself as “Pogo”
Evidence?
The police found some interesting things in John's place. They found a box containing marijuana and rolling papers, seven erotic movies made in sweden, pills including amyl nitrite and alium, a switchblade knife, erotic books on homosexuality, a pair of handcuffs and a fake badge, clothing too small for Gacy, nylon rope and other things.
Eviction?
Gacy was convicted for 1 count of sodomy, 33 counts of murder, 1 count of sexual assault. He spent 14 years on death row before he was executed by lethal injection on May 10th, 1994.
